School Psychologist

Helping children achieve their best. In school. At home. In life.

National Association of School Psychologists

As a school psychologist in Columbia, my role is quite diversified. I have the wonderful opportunity of working with many developmental stages, from preschool to eighth grade! And for this, I am truly grateful. My days are filled with bright smiles and warm welcomes!

As a faculty member at Porter School, I am here to help your child succeed academically, socially, and emotionally through continued collaboration with teachers, parents, and outside professionals. I work with many students, which includes not only special education but also general education.

Some of my job responsibilities include:
  - Individual/group counseling
  - Teaching social skills, behavioral strategies, being attentive, mindfulness, goal setting, study skills, peer mediations, etc.
  - Assessment of academic and behavioral issues
  - Consultation with teachers, parents, administrators, and outside service providers
  - Testing for eligibility of special education (i.e., aptitude, socioemotional development, multiple disabilities)
  - Crisis team intervention
  - Proactive prevention (Positive Behavior Intervention Support/PBIS, Scientifically Researched Behavioral Intervention/SRBI, Social Emotional Learning/SEL)
Each year I participate on multiple committees, and have enjoyed volunteering on the Health and Wellness Committee, School Climate Committee, and Juvenile Review Board (JRB), teaching Yoga in an after school club for various grades, and supervising school psychologist interns. I am a member on the PBIS/SEL Committee and Attendance Committee which meets monthly to discuss strategies to help students thrive in school and in life. It's always fun to be a part of STEAM day and assisting the committee, as well as teaching "Mindfulness" to students.

This website is one important way to strengthen home/school communications. Please feel free to explore various topics by choosing specific links of interest on the left-hand side of this page. And, be sure to check back periodically, as I update resources and information throughout the school year! I look forward to meeting and hearing from parents/guardians of the wonderful children that I am proud to work with!
